WORSHIP SERVICES & SERMONS

ANNUAL SPECIAL SERVICES

 

• Holy Communion is usually celebrated on the first Sunday of the month.  Ours is an open Communion. https://www.umc.org/en/content/an-open-table-how-united-methodists-understand-communion

• Sardinia UMC Choir usually presents a Christmas Cantata early in December and another Cantata on or near Easter Sunday during worship.  The 2024 Easter Cantata will be March 24, Palm Sunday, during 10 am worship.

• Easter Sunrise Service is held at Town of Sardinia Veteran’s Memorial Park, 13169 Genesee Rd, Chaffee, NY, usually at 7 am, with free breakfast to follow at the Sardinia United Methodist Church.  

 

• National Day of Prayer https://nationaltoday.com/national-day-prayer/ is observed with an outdoor worship service on the first Thursday in May each year.  

 

• An Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service in cooperation with St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church and the Chaffee Community Baptist Church is held on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.  Location rotates between the three churches, and an offering is taken to support the Food Pantry housed at the Chaffee Community Baptist Church.  In 2023 the service was held at Chaffee Community Baptist Church on November 21, 6:30 pm.

 

• A Blue Christmas Service is offered especially for those hurting during the holidays. It’s often offered around the winter solstice, December 21, the longest night of the year.  In 2023 the Blue Christmas service was held December 21 at 7 pm.  Anyone who has experienced loss, especially those for whom Christmas is not "merry and bright", will benefit from this special time of worship.

 

• Another Ecumenical Worship service is held on a Sunday around the Fourth of July at Town of Sardinia Veteran’s Park, 13169 Genesee Rd, Chaffee, NY.
